SUSANNA WESLEY GETS FACELIFT
The Susanna Wesley Garden at the World Methodist Museum is undergoing refurbishment. Through a generous gift we are able to begin work that will restore the Garden and create a new and fresh space for prayer, devotion and quiet meditation. The Garden has through the years been a place of respite, a place for prayer and worship, and occasionally a special place for an outdoor wedding.
The refurbishment will involve the removal of older trees and plants and replacing them with younger, healthier species in the fall, rebuilding the sidewalk and steps to the upper shelter in the Garden, and rebuilding of the foundation for the bust of Susanna Wesley which greets visitors at the Garden entrance. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in May. The plantings will occur in the fall to coincide with the optimal planting season in western North Carolina.
You may keep track of this project through our website. The re-opening of the Susanna Wesley Garden is being planned for the spring of 2010.
