Donor Development Officer

The World Methodist Council seeks to appoint a part-time Donor Development Officer (Resource Mobilisation) that will take responsibility for ensuring the effective mobilization of required resources  to meet the goals of our “Achieving the Vision” Endowment Fund strategy.

Responsibilities:

Strategy:  Develop and execute ongoing resource mobilization strategy for qualifying donors in extensive donor discovery, retention, and growth of donor contributions .

Work collaboratively with the General Secretary, Chief Financial Officer, Regional  Offices and partners to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the WMC.

Fundraising Targets and Portfolio Management:  Manage an assign portfolio of donors with intent to discover donor potential.  Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal tied to the blended portfolio as specified in performance standards, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue.

Prospect Development:  Implement programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the WMC.   Work with various member churches, steering committee, standing committees and  volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward appropriate donors.  Update donor records in  WMC database.

Relationship Management:  Accountable for cultivating relationships with individual and organizational fundraising with a focus on retention, recapture and growth.  Responsible for new business development and steward donor relationships.

Carry out any additional assignments required to fulfill the goals of “Achieving the Vision” strategy of the mission of the WMC.

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience:   Minimum three years fundraising experience required.  Experience in qualifying donors through donor discovery and proven success with straightforward requests is required.

Management Experience:  None required.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.  Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills required.  Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office preferred and fundraising database systems.  A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest customer service orientation.

Travel:  Requires some amount of international travel.
